New additions from the Aroma family winery
We are very excited to now be listing these two Chilean País wines. We’re seeing a growing interest in a red País and are very happy to be one of first UK importers of a white País wine. País is the signature wine grape of Chile, where it first arrived in the 1500s courtesy of Spanish missionaries. The grapes were grown for communion wine. Over the centuries the vines, grapes and the wines were disregarded and ignored. A País vineyard can be recognized by the ad hoc planting of the vines rather than the laser planted straight lines in more recently planted vineyards around the world. The vines are almost bush like. Only during the past ten years have the grape varieties and wine found favour as the ‘home’ grape of Chile.
Aromo Red País
Tasting
Harvested by hand, the vinification is carried out, uncovered, to retain the fruit and maximise tannin retention. The nose is one of strawberry and cherries, with a light body and a slightly sweet finish. Aromo Red País is Chinon and Beaujolais like, very good served at room temperature or slightly chilled. A light red wine that goes really well with vegetable and/or meat stews, omelettes and stuffed zucchini.
Aromo White País
Tasting
The harvest is manual, the grape is destemmed, ground and cooled to be immediately pressed, and a very clear and colourless juice is obtained. The wine is pale yellow in colour, with hints of white flowers and quince on the nose.
It has a medium acidity and aromatic flavours. Aromo White Pais is highly aromatic and great with
Asian and oriental food.
Estate Bottled Aromo
The Aromo winery is a family owned winery in Maule valley in the southern section of the central valley of Chile. It was bought from a French company in 1940 by Victor Henriquez Solar, and now his sons are working to establish Vina el Aromo as one of the most respected in Chile. The winery are now featuring well in competitions around the world and are regularly awarded gold and silver medals for their wines.
This estate bottled varietal range demonstrates the diversity of wine styles that can be produced in the ideal Chilean climate. The Aromo varietals show the best of these classic varieties with a twist of new world flair.

There is an increasing and newfound need for half bottles on wine lists. We have chosen to supply this need with halves of Aromo estate bottled Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The juices are exactly the same steel fermented wines as in the full size, 75cl bottled wines

This is a full bodied wine made from the grape variety of the same name. It has tannins and a full blackberry flavour. This variety was originally a hybrid grape from the Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc
grape varieties.
